Frequently Asked Questions

  • Session Fee: $185 per 50-minute session

Couples/Family Session Fee: $250 per 60 minute session

I accept FSA/HSA (Flexible Spending Account/Health Savings Account), credit cards, and debit cards.

Insurance: I don't currently take insurance, but If you meet medical diagnostic criteria, I can provide you with a receipt/superbill which you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Many insurance plans will pay a significant portion if not all of my fees. Using your insurance typically requires a mental health or medical diagnosis to be on record whereas paying out of pocket does not require a diagnosis.

How to verify your out-of-network coverage: I encourage you to contact your insurance company (the number is on the back of the card) and verify your out-of-network benefits.

Here are the questions you can ask your insurance provider to learn about your out-of-network reimbursement benefits:

    1) Does my plan provide reimbursement for out-of-network mental health care with a Licensed Professional Counselor?

    2) Is there a separate deductible?

    3) What percentage of out-of-network costs does my plan cover?

    4) Do I need pre-authorization for out-of-network services?

    5) Is there a limit to the number of sessions that will be reimbursed per year?

    6) How do I submit for out-of-network reimbursement?

  • Currently I only offer on-line sessions

  • I am an open and affirming therapist, sensitive to cultural diversity, open to a spectrum of personal beliefs, and aware of the privilege I hold in the room as a white, upper middle class cis-hetero White able-bodied woman. I engage in personal work around my biases and am always learning more. I am more than willing to have an open conversation with you about our possible differences to help ensure you feel comfortable working with me.

  • Once you contact me via phone or email, I will respond with a request to set up a free, 20-minute phone consultation. During this phone call, I will ask you questions about the situation that is bringing you to therapy and answer any questions you have about my or the therapy process. If we both feel we are a good fit, we will schedule a first 50-minute session. I will gather some information from you (name, email, phone number) so I can set you up on the online client portal where you will review and e-sign a few forms.

  • After our initial phone consult and first 50-minute session, I typically ask to see clients weekly for the first 4-6 weeks. This helps me get a full understanding of your situation and figure out how I can best help you. During this time, we’ll talk about your goals and what you want your life to look and feel like at the end of therapy. I will check in with you throughout the therapy process to determine if your goals are being met, how the therapy is going, and what the next steps in therapy will be. As we progress, we can determine if sessions should continue weekly or move to less often. If we are not progressing with your goals, we will have a conversation about what we can do differently or if another therapist might be a better fit for you. Therapy is a collaborative relationship - it needs to work for both of us to be successful - so I will regularly check in with you about how it’s going.

My goal for therapy is to help you feel better. I hope to help you find ways to reduce the physical and emotional pain you are in, learn to advocate for yourself and your needs, handle challenges with more confidence, and find more support from loved ones in your life.

I support you by using a biopsychosocial-spiritual framework which means I take into account your mind, body, soul, and your context/community as we work together. The challenge you are having likely does not have one simple solution, but rather is impacting several areas in your life and will take a variety of interventions to help you feel better. I also use family systems theory which means I do think about your past history of relationships in your family and how they may be impacting you today. I also use somatic awareness which means paying attention to your body and how your body feels to help you get in touch with your needs and wants. Especially in my work with those who have a medical diagnosis, getting in tune with our body is so important in taking care of ourselves.

Once you are satisfied with your goals, we will discuss how we will end our therapeutic relationship. We may decided to stretch the time between sessions or decide to end our sessions for now.

I hope that gives you a sense of how therapy works and what it’s like to work with me. I can answer more questions at our initial phone consult.
